Irish Language Assistance Scheme
The objective of this scheme is to reinforce Irish as the spoken language among young people in the Gaeltacht. With regard to the Language Assistants Scheme, two organisations, Muintearas Teo and Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne Teo, manage the scheme on behalf of the Department. This service is delivered for the most part through the network of Gaeltacht primary schools. This scheme is due for revision in 2015/2016 in conjunction with the Department of Education and Skills in the context of that Department’s Policy Proposals for Educational Provision in Gaeltacht Areas. http://ancuntoir.ie/
Any school wishing to avail of the Scheme should contact either Muintearas Teo for the Donegal, Mayo, Galway and Co Meath Gaeltacht or Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne for the Kerry, Cork and Waterford Gaeltacht. The contact details for both organisations are:
