23/01/2015
The Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Heather Humphreys TD, has today said recent improvements made to the Section 481 Film Tax Relief offer significant potential for further growth in the Irish animation sector in 2015. Minister Humphreys was speaking as she visited the Oscar-nominated animation studio, Cartoon Saloon, in Kilkenny. Cartoon Saloon last week secured an Academy Award nomination for its film ‘Song of the Sea’ in the ‘Best Animated Feature Film’ category. It is the second Oscar nomination for the Kilkenny-based company; it previously received a nomination for ‘The Secret of Kells’.
