Charter for Rural Ireland
An Taoiseach, Enda Kenny TD launched the Charter for Rural Ireland on Thursday 28th January 2016 in Co. Offaly.
The Charter for Rural Ireland contains a number of specific commitments that will establish frameworks and practices to support the rejuvenation of the rural economy and rural society as a whole. Some of the commitments include:
- the development of a national framework for the creation of a rural development policy;
- committing to a robust reporting mechanism on government actions to enhance rural development;
- and ensuring that there is collaboration between Local and Community Development Committees, Local Enterprise Offices and all the relevant stakeholders to effectively support enterprises in local areas including social enterprise.
