09/08/2011 Deenihan launches review of The Irish Heritage Trust

Jimmy Deenihan T.D., Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht has published an Irish Heritage Trust Review Issues Paper to allow interested parties and the public to input into a review of the Trust.

Minister Deenihan stated that “the Trust was established 5 years ago as an alternative mechanism to State acquisition of heritage properties. A review of its operation at this stage is timely.”

The Minister is of the view that “it is important to recognise where the Trust has succeeded in delivering on its mandate and to consider where the direction of the Trust should lie for the coming years in a dramatically changed economic environment.”

The Irish Heritage Trust Review Issues Paper is available here from the Department’s website www.chg.gov.ie. The paper may also be obtained by contacting Mr. Rónán Whelan, Built Heritage and Architectural Policy Section, Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Newtown Road, Wexford or telephone 053-9117376.
