10/10/2012 €21,563 sanctioned by the Minister of State Dinny McGinley T.D., for Comhchoiste Ghaeltacht Uíbh Rathaigh to extend their office in Ceann Eich
Minister of State at the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Dinny McGinley T.D., today 10 October 2012, announced that he has sanctioned a grant of €21,563 to Comhchoiste Ghaeltacht Uíbh Ráthaigh to enable them to extend their office in Ceann Eich to provide a training and facilities room and storage space.
Announcing the grant, Minister of State McGinley said that he is pleased to provide the Comhchoiste with this grant and he is sure that the community of the area will benefit from the significant State investment being made in this case. “This is an area that was always loyal to community issues and to the Irish language generally, and this additional office is badly needed.”
As a result of this grant, he said that it would be possible for the Comhchoiste, in conjunction with the community of Uíbh Ráthach, to be central to strengthening the Irish language as the community language – something which reflects the language planning process which now has a statutory foundation under the Gaeltacht Act. The Minister of State said that it is vital that support such as this be available under the 20-Year Strategy for the Irish Language so that the Gaeltacht community can face the challenges associated with progressing the language planning process.
