11.06.11 Jimmy Deenihan TD echoed the sentiment of An Taoiseach when he spoke of the untimely death of Brian Lenihan TD.

Minister Deenihan said “On hearing of the death of Brian I remembered clearly how he came into the political arena following the death of his own father Brian senior back in 1996. At that time his remarkable ability to quickly grasp a detailed brief was evident for all to see. As a member of a staunchly republican family his contributions to the cut and thrust of Dail debates was always insightful. He was more to me than a member of the Opposition, he was a personal friend and confidant. We worked together on legislation and I still remember his significant contributions.

His presence in the chamber will be a loss but his loss to his family is immense and I want to extend my sincere condolences to his wife Patricia, his children Tom and Claire and his extended family.
