12/04/2013: Statement re Appointment of Gabriel Doherty to Expert Advisory Group on commemorations

April 12th – Jimmy Deenihan TD, Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, has asked Mr Gabriel Doherty of the School of History, University College Cork, to serve on the Expert Advisory Group of eminent historians which advises the Government and the All-Party Oireachtas Committee on Commemorations. This Expert Advisory Group is chaired by Dr Maurice Manning and supported by Dr Martin Mansergh.

Accepting his appointment to the Expert Advisory Group Mr. Doherty said “I am honoured and humbled to be invited to participate in the work of this important committee. I am very much look forward to working with both Dr. Maurice Manning, and Dr. Martin Mansergh and the other members over the coming years in their efforts to fulfil its remit.”
Dr Maurice Manning has welcomed the addition of Mr Doherty to the Expert Advisory Group:
