15.06.2011 Refurbishment of Taibhdhearc na Gaillimhe

The Minister of State at the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Dinny McGinley T.D., wishes to announce that significant progress has been made in recent days regarding the provision of funding for refurbishment work at An Taibhdhearc.

The Minister of State now understands that the refurbishment work is likely to commence at An Taibhdhearc in the autumn with an anticipated completion date in early 2012.

In view of this, and arising from a meeting between the Minister of State and Minister Jimmy Deenihan T.D. yesterday, it has been agreed in principle that funding of €300,000 will be provided by the Department to An Taibhdhearc over a period of two years for the refurbishment.

It has also been agreed that a planning meeting between the Board of An Taibhdhearc and officials from the Department will be held before the end of the month to discuss matters.
