16/07/2015: Appointments to the Board of the Abbey Theatre

The Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Heather Humphreys TD, has made the following appointments to the board of the Abbey Theatre:

  • Loretta Dignam
  • James Mc Nally

The appointees applied for the positions through www.stateboards.ie and were identified through the Public Appointments Service. Both individuals were found to have the requisite skills requirement for the Abbey Board. The requirements for the vacant positions were:

  • Financial management and donor relations skills
  • Marketing and fundraising skills

The term of both appointments is three years.

Biographies of appointees to the Board of the Abbey Theatre:

Loretta Dignam is a marketing professional with more than 25 years experience with several multinational and Irish companies, including Diageo, Kerry Foods and Jacob Fruitfield. She was named Marketer of the Year in 2011, served as interim CEO of Fundraising Ireland and works with Plan Ireland in a marketing and fundraising capacity.

James McNally previously served on the Abbey Board from January 2012-2015, when he chaired the Audit Committee. He is a Tax Partner with PwC, where he has worked for more than 20 years in areas including tax planning, international structuring, compliance and governance and assurance consulting. During his time on the Abbey Board, Mr McNally worked in the area of donor relations with the Abbey Development Team, specifically cultivating relationships in the US.
