17/10/2011 Minister Dinny McGinley TD officially launches History Links Project

Dinny McGinley TD Minister for the Gaeltacht will this evening  (Monday 17th October, 2011) officially launch the History Links  Project – in Balor Theatre, Main Street, Ballybofey.

Speaking at the launch Minister McGinley said that this initiative was a valuable contribution to building trust and understanding between border communities.  “Both of these communities have much in common in terms of social history and culture” said the Minister.
Minister McGinley acknowledged the financial support received from the International Fund for Ireland, Lifford Clonleigh Resource Centre, North West Regional College and County & Donegal Vocational Education Committee.

The Minister also thanked those involved in all elements of the projects. “Knowledge in computers is essential nowadays when so much business is gained through the internet.  I hear on radio also that people who have been unfamiliar with computers and unskilled in their use are now enjoying the immense resource that is only a ‘click’ away. Furthermore, the community website will I’m sure provide a valuable resource to both traditions and will no doubt be a talking point. To this end I note that there is a discussion forum which will allow participants on the project to interact with each other” said Minister McGinley.
