19/05/2015 Minister Aodhán Ó Ríordáin congratulates Dead Centre Theatre Company on OBIE Award for Lippy
Minster of State at the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht Aodhán Ó Ríordáin TD, congratulates Dead Centre Theatre Company on its success in attaining an OBIE award for its production of LIPPY at the Abrons Arts Centre, New York.
Lippy was presented at the Abrons Arts Center, in co-production with the Irish Arts Center, in October 2014 following performances in the UK and Europe with the support of Culture Ireland.
Directed by Bush Moukarzel and Ben Kidd, Lippy was selected to showcase by Culture Ireland at the 2014 Edinburgh Festival where it attracted three awards – a Herald Angel Award, a Scotsman Fringe First and a Total Theatre Award for Innovation, Experimentation and Playing with form. In 2013 Lippy also was the winner of the Irish Times Theatre Award for Best Production.
Minister Ó Ríordáin, congratulating Bush Moukarzel and his Dead Centre colleagues, said:

This is a fitting tribute to the great artistry of Bush and his team at Dead Centre. In supporting the global touring of this work Culture Ireland is both creating employment opportunities for Irish artists and bringing global attention to this strong Irish creative talent”
