20/06/2013 – Summer Festivals in Donegal receive Funding – McGinley

Thursday 20th June, 2013 Dinny McGinley T.D., Minister of State at the Department of Arts Heritage and the Gaeltacht, welcomed the announcement of funding from the Arts Council for Summer Festivals taking place throughout the country in the coming months.

In Donegal , the long running  and very successful Earagail Arts Festival will receive some €165,000, with Ballyshannon Traditional Folk Music Festival allocated €3,500 and Ceol na gCruach approved for €2,250.

Welcoming the funding Minister McGinley said ” I welcome this funding for these 3 festivals in Donegal.  In these difficult economic times, I know how important this funding is to all of these groups.  These festivals taking place between June and September ensure that the arts remain as part and parcel of the local communities.  There is tremendous local support and voluntarism involved in the preparation and advance planning for these festivals and support at state level is indicative of the importance this Government places maintaining the arts and culture as a vibrant element within all of our communities”
