2/11/12 – Deenihan welcomes commencement of next stage of work on Killarney House

Friday, November 2nd – Jimmy Deenihan TD, Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, has welcomed the imminent commencement of the next stage of work on the restoration and renovation of Killarney House.

Phase 2 of the work on Killarney House will commence next week following the issue today of a Letter of Acceptance for the undertaking of this work to contractors BAM. Phase 2 of the project will involve work to the outside of the building, especially at the courtyard, and internal work to walls and partitions and this phase of the project is expected to be completed in early 2013. Phase 3 of the work is expected to commence later in 2013 when planning permission has been secured, with completion scheduled for Spring 2014.

Minister Deenihan has welcomed the imminent commencement of the next phase of work on Killarney House, commenting:

‘Killarney House is a jewel in the built heritage of County Kerry but is also of national importance. I am delighted with the confirmation that the next phase of this work is to commence next week. With extensive restoration planned – and the next phase of work now commencing – when this entire process is complete Killarney House will be a major attraction and amenity in Kerry and the region, for locals and visitors alike.”
