22/01/2014 – Minister of State McGinley welcomes Údarás na Gaeltachta’s Review of 2013
The Minister of State at the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Dinny McGinley T.D., has welcomed the 2013 results published by Údarás na Gaeltachta yesterday, 21 January 2014.
The Minister of State said that he is pleased that the Údarás managed to create 616 jobs in 2013, particularly in light of the current challenging economic climate. It also bodes well, the Minister of State said, that projects were sanctioned during the year that will generate an estimated 560 jobs in the future. “I welcome the results of this review which shows that the fewest number of jobs in thirty years were lost in Gaeltacht client companies during 2013. This is evidence of the valuable work being carried out by Údarás na Gaeltacht to provide a steady base for employment in the Gaeltacht,” the Minister of State said. The Minister of State also referred to the continued reduction in job loss rates in recent years. “This is certainly a positive indication of how Gaeltacht companies have stabilised their employment base in recent years and how they can now look to growing their enterprises as the economy is beginning to recover.”
