27/03/2014 : Minister Deenihan launches 2014 Cavan Theatre Festival

Thursday, 27 March, 2014: Jimmy Deenihan TD, Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht,  will this afternoon launch the Cavan Theatre Festival in the Peacock Theatre, The Abbey National Theatre, Dublin.

The Theatre Festival will take place in Cavan Town from 17th July to 20th July 2014. It will provide a professional platform for emerging and touring productions to engage with the people of Cavan and its thriving theatre community. The festival will give the town an opportunity to showcase the best of Irish and international talent, as well as celebrating a close community, people and place.

Speaking in advance of the launch, Minister Deenihan said “Festivals like Cavan are a testament to the dedication of the community, to the talent of the artists, and to all those who support theatre year on year. Funding is tight – and what is achieved is more or less miraculous. Nevertheless, the launch of this new Festival is a symbol of all that is positive in Ireland, and demonstrates that we do have a great deal to be proud of, and if we all pull together, the future is bright. I hope that you all enjoy the festival”.
