A one-off grant of €20,000 has been granted to Amharclann Ghaoth Dobhair , Co. Donegal by Minister of State Kyne
Seán Kyne T.D., Government Chief Whip and Minister of State for Irish Language, the Gaeltacht and the Islands, has announced today (20 December), that he has awarded a grant of €20,000 to Amharclann Ghaoth Dobhair, Na Doirí Beaga, Co. Donegal to properly cater to drama and the arts in the community.
Amharclann Ghaoth Dobhair officially opened in 1961. With help from the Department, a huge renovation has been made to the theatre in the past few years, and it officially reopened in March 2017.
‘‘I am delighted to award this grant to Amharclann Ghaoth Dobhair,’’ said Minister of State Kyne. ‘‘It is a lovely venue that supports Irish language actors, writers, artists, musicians, designers and directors. This theatre also really caters for young people, in further developing the next generation of young Irish speakers.’’
This grant has been approved in accordance with the provisions in the Community and Language Support Programme under act 2.14 of the Government’s Action Plan 2018-2022 for Irish, which was launched in June 2018.
