An Cumann Scoildrámaíochta to get €50,000 funding in 2018
Government Chief Whip and Minister of State for the Irish Language, the Gaeltacht and the Islands, Joe McHugh TD, today announced that he allowed a grant of € 50,000 to the Scholarship Society for 2018. This grant is granted to help the society to complete its programme of activities for 2018.
An Cumann Scoildrámaíochta organises drama festivals to promote plays through the medium of Irish. It organises local festivals throughout the country and in the four province festivals as well as the national festival. Participating in these festivals are primary and post-primary scholars. The society is proud of the fact that around 10,000 children take part in the festivals that are held nationwide every year.
Announcing the grant, Minister of State McHugh said:
“An Cumann Scoildrámaíochta has played a crucial role throughout the country for many years. It encourages schools to promote the Irish language in a fun and artistic manner, and this approach has a very positive impact on the participating school children. I wish them all the success for the coming year.”
