CLG na nDúnaibh to be awarded grant aid of over €70,000
Minister of State Seán Kyne approves funding for Donegal Gaeltacht club
The Government Chief-Whip and Minister of State for the Irish Language, the Gaeltacht and the Islands Seán Kyne T.D. has announced today, 5 April, that he has approved an allowance of up €70,992 or 60% of the total cost, whichever is the lesser, for CLG na nDúnaibh to enable them to renovate and update their clubhouse.
With this update, the Club hopes to provide an inviting and attractive space for children and adults to improve their Irish, in buildings which are comfortable, warm and safe. They will have the opportunity, in conjunction with the North Donegal Planning Committee and Céim Aniar, to effectively develop the Irish Language and other cultural aspects in a modern and positive environment.
“I am delighted to approve this grant to this active club” the Minister of State Seán Kyne said. Of course, my Department is continuously working to ensure that there is integration between local organisations, the implementation of language plans and the implementation of the Policy on Gaeltacht Education 2017-2022. It that context, we seized the opportunity to secure this integration for CLG na nDúnaibh”.
He continued by saying that he hoped this grant would help the Club as they go about creating useful opportunities and continuity for the children to enable them to use the Irish Language outside of the education system.
This allowance is being permitted in accordance with the commitment made as part of the Community and Language Supports Programme under action 2.14, 2.21 and 2.22 of the Government’s Irish Language Action Plan 2018-2022, which was launched in June 2018.
