Dr Tom Collins to chair Moore Street Advisory Group – Minister Humphreys

The Minister for Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, Heather Humphreys TD, has today (Friday) announced the appointment of Dr Tom Collins as chair of the new Moore Street Advisory Group. The Minister agreed to establish the group arising out of a recommendation in the report of the Moore Consultative Group, Moore Street Report – Securing History, which was presented to the Minister in late March.

The new Advisory Group will be tasked with finding a way forward for the development of the Moore Street area in a way that reflects its historical associations and that safeguards its street trading tradition.

Speaking today Minister Humphreys said:

“Dr Collins brings considerable experience to this role and indeed to the new Advisory Group which will now consider in detail the options for the future development of Moore Street.

“The recommendations in the Moore Street report have the potential to breathe new life into the area, while at the same time retaining its sense of history and tradition. I particularly welcome the fact that the report envisages a way forward based on consensus and I believe Dr Collins is well equipped to lead the discussions between the interested parties and to arrive at solutions that balance the views of all the key stakeholders.

“It is my hope that the new Advisory Group can begin its work as quickly as possible.”
