€104,500 sanctioned by Minister of State Kyne for the GAA’s Comhairle Chonnacht

The Minister of State for Gaeltacht Affairs, Sean Kyne T.D., announced today that he has sanctioned a grant of €104,500 for the GAA’s Comhairle Chonnacht for the 2016/17 school year. The grant is being sanctioned in order to support the Council in continuing its programme of teaching various playing skills in the Conamara Gaeltacht and in Tuar Mhic Éadaigh. This programme also supports the promotion of Irish.

Announcing the grant, the Minister of State said that he is delighted to be able to provide this assistance to Comhairle Chonnacht for the excellent work they do in primary and post-primary schools. “As a result of the valuable work of Comhairle Chonnacht under this scheme over the past number of years, young people in the Gaeltacht have been given the opportunity to use and enrich their Irish in a fun sports environment,” the Minister said.
