€320,000 sanctioned by Minister of State McHugh for Taibhdhearc na Gaillimhe for the period 2015-2017
The Minister of State for Gaeltacht Affairs, Joe McHugh T.D., today announced that he has sanctioned an operational grant of €320,000 per annum for Taibhdhearc na Gaillimhe for the period 2015-2017. This grant will support the delivery of the theatre’s work programme over the next three years.
Announcing the grant, the Minister of State said:
“I am delighted to be in a position to provide this assistance to Taibhdhearc na Gaillimhe, the National Irish Language Theatre, for the next three years. The theatre’s work programme covers a wide range of activities, including Irish language plays, workshops, competitions, shows and exhibitions. It’s worth mentioning, of course, that this work programme is of huge support in accomplishing the aims of the 20-Year Strategy for the Irish Language.”
Minister of State McHugh also commended the Taibhdhearc on its work in fostering and promoting drama and writing in Irish, especially in Galway city and county.
