Enhanced Helicopter Service For Toraigh – Minister of State Kyne

The Minister of State for Gaeltacht Affairs, Seán Kyne TD, has today announced that an agreement has been reached with the HSE for expansion of the helicopter service for Toraigh Island, Co. Donegal, which is co-funded by his Department.  The service which heretofore operated on a fortnightly basis between the months of November and March will this coming winter, operate on a weekly basis.

Making the announcement, Minister of State Kyne said that he was pleased to have been in a position whereby his Department could fund the expanded service.  “I am pleased that my Department has been able to reach agreement with the HSE for an enhanced helicopter for Toraigh.  The winter months can prove to be quite challenging for the population of this island and I am satisfied that the additional helicopter services will be a source of comfort for the community.  I would like to thank the HSE, Irish Helicopters and my officials for the work that they have undertaken to bring this agreement about.  I hope to be able to visit Toraigh in the near future,” said the Minister.
