Extension of the Tory Island Helicopter Service Approved by the Minister of State Kyne In Agreement With The Health Service

The Minister of State for the Irish language, Gaeltacht and the Islands, Seán Kyne, T.D., has announced today (01 November 2018) that he has allowed a grant of up to €206,617 to provide a weekly helicopter service to Tory Island for the season 2018/19.  Under the terms of the agreement between the Department and The Health Service Executive, the helicopter service between Falcarragh and Tory Island will be co-financed up until April 2019.  This is an extension of the service that was made available in recent years.

Kyne, the Minister of State said that he was very pleased to make such an announcement. The Minister of State affirmed: “I’m glad that my Department was able to assist in the extension of the service.  This constitutes another step forward in relation to the recommendations arising from the arbitration process which my Department initiated for the island and it reflects the commitment of my Department regarding its implementation.’’
