Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht
The Department of Culture, Heritage, and the Gaeltacht has a diverse business agenda. Its broad mandate is to promote and protect Ireland’s culture and heritage; to advance the use of the Irish language; and to facilitate the sustainable development of the islands.
There is currently a vacancy in the Department’s Gaeltacht division, located in Na Forbacha, Co Galway. Irish is the working language of this office.
Reporting to a Principal Officer, the successful candidates will also advise and interact with senior management in respect of their areas of responsibility. Assistant Principals will be required to act as representatives for the Department at community and inter-agency meetings and events and may also represent the country at a European and international level.
Applicants wishing to be considered for appointment to this role will be required to carry out their duties through the medium of Irish. Due to the seniority of the role and the policy area in which the successful applicant(s) will be working, only those with an excellent level of written and spoken Irish will be considered.
Applicants should also have significant management experience at an appropriate level, including leading teams and managing resources, with experience of some or all of the following areas: project or programme analysis and management, managing teams and budgets, public procurement, policy and/or legislation development and implementation and strategic and change management.
