Grant of up to €2,700 approved by Government Chief Whip and Minister of State Kyne for ‘BISEACH’ Editorial Committee to publish their magazine

Seán Kyne TD, Government Chief Whip and Minister of State for the Irish Language, the Gaeltacht and the Islands announced today that he has allowed a grant of up to € 2,700 or 40% of the total cost, whichever is the lesser, to go to the ‘BISEACH’ Editorial Committee to enable the committee to publish a magazine.

The Committee has stated that this grant will be helpful in publishing the magazine again. The magazine contains a selection of topics, local history, lore and storytelling, photos (both old and new) and information about organisations in the community. The book is very popular locally and also further afield.

“It’s nice to see the local community publishing this kind of magazine, ” said Minister of State Kyne. “People are very interested in the local and historical stories that are available there. It is a great way to encourage people to read Irish naturally. I am delighted that my Department is able to support Biseach’s Editorial Committee to publish this interesting magazine. ”

The grant is being sanctioned in accordance with the commitment given in relation to the Community and Language Supports Programme under Action 2.22 of the Government’s Action Plan 2018-2022 for the Irish Language, launched in June 2018.
