Grant of up to €10,500 approved by Minister of State Kyne for Cumann Lúthchleas Gael Lios Póil to complete work at their sports ground
Government Chief Whip and Minister of State for the Irish Language, the Gaeltacht and the Islands, Seán Kyne, today (6 November) announced that he has approved a grant of up to €10,500 or 70% of the total cost, whichever is the lesser, for CLG Lios Póil to complete work at their sports ground.
The Department approved a grant of €45,500 for CLG Lios Póil in 2016 to enable them to build a new stand and commentary box at their sports ground in Garrynadur. Due to additional works which need to be completed at the pitch to fulfill conditions relating to access and safety, an increase of €10,500 has now been approved for the committee for these works.
“I am delighted to be able to approve funding for this club” said Minister of State Kyne. “This pitch is an important facility in the area and this club really helps to promote Irish by giving various groups the opportunity to use the pitch – including Irish summer colleges and Irish summer camps.”
The grant is being approved in accordance with the commitment given in relation to the Community and Language Supports Programme under Action 2.22 of the Government’s Action Plan 2018-2022 for the Irish Language, launched in June 2018.
