Grant of up to €4,960 approved by the Minister of State Seán Kyne to the Language Planning Officer’s office in Pobal Eascarrach CTR
The Government Chief-Whip and Minister of State for the Irish Language, the Gaeltacht and the Islands Seán Kyne T.D. has announced today (3 April), that he has approved an allowance of up €4,960 or 80% of the total cost, whichever is the lesser, for Pobal Eascarrach CTR, to assist the organisation in the renovation of a room in the centre for the Language Planning Officer.
Pobal Eascarrach, in cooperation with the LPT Language Planning Officer, is functioning as the Head Organisation in Cloich Cheann Fhaola, Gort an Choirce, An Fál Carrach and Machaire Rabhartaigh LPT (LPT 03). They will both play a major role in the area’s language planning process and in the development of Irish in general in years to come. The Language Planning Officer in the area will have a permanent office on completion of this renovation.
“I am delighted to approve this grant to this active organisation,” the Minister of State Seán Kyne said. “As we approach the next stage in the language planning process – that is, the implementation of plans, is it essential that the Department makes every possible support available in order to ensure that every opportunity to preserve and perpetuate the Irish Language in these Language Planning Areas is embraced. I hope this funding helps the organisation and the Language Planning Officer as they engage in the high-standard implementation of the LPT language plan. I wish them every success with the work.”
This allowance is being permitted in accordance with the commitment made as part of the Community and Language Supports Programme under action 2.13 and 2.22 of the Government’s Irish Language Action Plan 2018-2022, which was launched in June 2018.
