Grant of up to €6,955 approved by Minister of State Kyne for the Committee of Naíonra an tSeanphobail to build a new fence at Ionad an Naíonra

It was announced today, 17 December, by Government Chief Whip and Minister of State for the Irish language, the Gaeltacht and the Islands, Seán Kyne TD, that a grant of up to €6,955, or 95% of the overall cost, whichever is lower, has been approved by him for the Naíonra an tSeanphobail Committee to build a new fence at the playschool in Sean Phobail, Co. Waterford.

This new fence will ensure that there will be a safe place available for children to play outside in the fresh air at Naíonra an tSeanphobail Centre in Lios na Síog. The wooden fence there at present has rotted and is no longer suitable. The new fence will ensure that the children can take full advantage of as much time as possible outside in the garden, as advised in the early year’s national curriculum, Aistear.

It is my pleasure to announce the approval of funding for the Committee of Naíonra an tSeanphobail,” said Minister of State Kyne. “The importance attached to early years education is recognised by my Department, and the promise given to us in the Action Plan for the Irish language that we will be strengthening early years facilities available to the Gaeltacht community in upcoming years.”

This grant has been approved in accordance with provisions in the Community and Language Support Programme, under Action 2.24 of the Government’s Action Plan 2018-2022 for the Irish language, launched in June 2018.
