Nature Reserves

A Nature Reserve is an area of importance to wildlife, protected by legislation.  Most Nature Reserves in Ireland are owned by the State.  However, some are owned by organisations or private landowners; persons interested in acquiring statutory protection for their lands can seek advice on this matter from the Department. More information on Nature Reserves in Ireland is available at www.npws.ie.
