Mayo Islands Committee approved grant in order to provide a freight service for Inishlyre, Collan More Island and Clynish in Co. Mayo – McHugh

The Chief Government Whip and Minister of State for the Irish Language, Gaeltacht and the Islands, Joe McHugh TD, has announced today, 9 May 2018, that he has approved a grant for Mayo Islands Committee to pay for a heavy cargo service for for Inishlyre, Collan More Island and Clynish in Co. Mayo. It is a two year service between May 1 2018 and 30 April 2020. The Lasta na nOileán Teo company will provide the service and will provide The Lasta na nOileán Teo company will provide the service and will provide six return sailings every year under this agreement at a cost of €3,900 per annum.

The Minister of State said “I am delighted to be able to make this announcement today. These islands have a small population and it is important that such a service is available to them.”
