Minister of State Calleary welcomes the Apprenticeship Scholarship Scheme announced by Údarás na Gaeltachta
Government Chief Whip and Minister of State for the Gaeltacht, the Irish language and Sport, Dara Calleary T.D. has welcomed the Apprenticeship Scholarship Scheme announced by Údarás na Gaeltacht recently.
The scheme provides Gaeltacht applicants with the opportunity to learn a new skill/trade or upskill and obtain an apprenticeship qualification recognised by the National Apprenticeship Council.
The Gaeltacht community can apply to undertake apprenticeships from 55 different categories under 12 varied sectors, all recognised by SOLAS, as part of the Scholarship Scheme being offered by Údarás na Gaeltachta, worth over €2,000 each.
The scheme covers traditional trades such as plumbing, carpentry, mechanical and electrical, along with a broader range of areas which provides opportunities for development of skills in in Engineering, BioPharma, Computing Accountancy, and many other areas.
“This is an important scheme for Gaeltacht communities, particularly at present with the pressures associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. This is an opportunity for up to 50 applicants to undertake a new challenge and develop their skills” according to the Dara Calleary TD, Government Chief Whip and Minister of State for the Gaeltacht, the Irish language and Sport.
The current call for applications for the Údarás na Gaeltachta Apprenticeship Scholarship Scheme 2020 is open until 17/07/2020. Those interested in learning more regarding the Scholarship Scheme’s eligibility criteria and downloading an application form should visit www.udaras.ie.
