Minister Humphreys announces extension to submission deadline for Culture 2025
The Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Heather Humphreys TD, has today (Thursday) announced that she is extending the deadline for submissions on Culture 2025, Ireland’s first national cultural policy. Minister Humphreys launched a discussion document and a public consultation process on the development of the policy in August.
The deadline for submissions to the Department in respect to the Culture 2025 discussion document is now being extended to 31st October 2015. A series of public consultation meetings are being held across the country over the next month.
Speaking today Minister Humphreys said:
“I am keen to facilitate as much discussion as possible in relation to the development of Culture 2025, while also ensuring we stick to a prompt timeframe for the publication of the final policy. I am particularly eager to hear from local arts organisations and the many stakeholders involved across our arts and cultural sectors throughout the country.
“Following initial feedback, I have decided to extend the submission deadline to the end of October. The consultation process is being facilitated through a series of regional meetings and people can also make submissions online through my Department’s website.”
The first of the public consultation meetings was held in Cavan Town Hall on 15th September and catered for Cavan, Monaghan, Leitrim, Longford, Westmeath and Donegal. Further meetings are being held in Cork, Galway, Limerick, Kilkenny and Dublin between now and the middle of October.
The final policy document to emerge from this process will be submitted for the approval of Government and it is envisaged that the new policy will be published in the first half of 2016.
