Minister Kyne approves grants to Galf Chumann Ghaoth Dobhair, Co. Donegal
Seán Kyne, T.D., Government Chief Whip and Minister of State for the Irish Language, the Gaeltacht and the Islands, has today (11 February) announced that grants of up to €25,235 or 60% of the overall cost, whichever is less, has been approved by him to Galf Chumann Ghaoth Dobhair, to enable the club to update the club house and to purchase machinery for the maintenance of the golf course.
The club says that they are contributing significantly to the area’s economy and that they attract both tourists and visitors to the locality.
Minister of State Kyne said, “I am delighted to approve these grants for this active club. The club has different roles in the area – they provide recreational facilities for the young and older community members of the area, they attract visitors to the area, they contribute to the local economy and more importantly still, they promote the Irish language all the time. I hope that this funding will help them as they try to keep the clubhouse and golf course in good shape for club members, tourists and visitors.”
This grant has been approved in accordance with the provisions in the Community and Language Support Programme under act 2.14 of the Government’s Action Plan 2018-2022 for Irish, which was launched in June 2018.
