Minister of State Kyne approves grant to develop an Irish Centre in Tallaght
Minister of State for Gaeltacht Affairs, Seán Kyne T.D., has announced that he has sanctioned a grant of €150,000 for Gaelphobal Thamhlachta to develop an Irish Centre in Tallaght.
A branch of Conradh na Gaeilge, Gaelphobal Thamhlachta purchased premises in Tallaght Village in 2014 with the aim of developing them as an Irish Language and Cultural Centre. The development will include a community cafe and patio, a theatre and a bookshop.
The development of this centre is in accordance with one of the goals of the 20-Year Strategy for the Irish Language 2010-2030 which states that Irish language resource centres will be provided in large urban areas around the country. Announcing the grant, Minister of State Kyne said that the development is important as it will cater to the Irish-language community that now exists in Tallaght as a result of the increase in All-Irish schools there in recent years.
