Minister of State Kyne to be present at Oireachtas na Samhna for a public seminar about Irish and the Gaeltacht
The Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht announced today (Wednesday 31 October) that the Government Chief Whip and the Minister of State for the Irish Language, the Gaeltacht and the Islands, Seán Kyne, T.D will be at Oireachtas na Samhna in Killarney on November 1st 2018 to attend the public seminar being organised by the Department: An Ghaeilge agus An Ghaeltacht – ar bun agus beartaithe.
The seminar will be on in the Mangerton Room in the Gleneagle Hotel at 10:30am on November 1st 2018 and it is open to the public. An account of the work being done by the Department, Údarás na Gaeltachta and Foras na Gaeilge-in cooperation with other interested parties will be given as it applies to the Irish language and the Gaeltacht over the next 5 years.
Speaking about the information seminar, the Minister of State said: “It is extremely important and relevant in the context of the publication of the Government’s Action Plan 2018-2022 and particularly as we celebrate Bliain na Gaeilge 2018, that the opportunity is taken at Oireachtas na Samhna to inform the Irish speaking and Gaeltacht communities about what the State and other interested parties are doing to benefit the Irish language and the Gaeltacht in the next 5 years.”
It has also been announced that the Minister of State will be present that evening to meet with members of the newly-appointed governing committee which has been set up to monitor the implementation of the Government’s Action Plan 2018-2022. This governing committee has been set up in accordance with what has been pledged in the plan itself and the first meeting will convene at Oireachtas na Samhna.
