Chief Whip and Minister of State for the Irish Language, the Gaeltacht and the Islands, Joe McHugh T.D., announced today that he has granted permission to Galway County Council to employ consultants to carry out various surveys on the development of the Pier on Inis Oírr.  The surveys in question are a bathymetric survey, a condition survey and a site audit.  This is part of the preparatory work for the pier development.

Making the announcement, Minister of State McHugh said:  “I am pleased to be able to make this announcement today.  I understand that it is just one small step but it demonstrates that my Department and Galway County Council are dedicated to advancing this project.”
